Associate of acquisitions and development participates in the ongoing search and active outreach to writers and authors for acquiring original written story material created by independent self-published authors for optioning of the material by our production company, thus becoming our client. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a strong background in creative writing, story development and structure and character development. In addition, the candidate must be knowledgeable of proper industry standard script/screenplay formatting, and an understanding of U.S. copyright law. Candidate must also possess sales marketing skills in promoting our services. In addition, the candidate must have some specialized knowledge of the book publishing industry and of the motion picture industry.

This position requires that the candidate must be able to distinguish if the literary material should be considered and further developed for commercial exploitation for stage plays and or motion picture films. In addition, position requires someone with a Mass Communications/ or Business Administration emphasis in Marketing/ or background as a playwright and/or screenwriter. A background in college level English Creative Writing or theatre and/or film production is a plus. The ideal candidate must have the creative ability to bring a story from concept stage to story outline within a timely manner. Candidate should own computer a PC or preferably a MAC with up-to-date scriptwriting software; have experience in Windows; MS Word; and EMAIL.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate we’re looking for must be a lover various types of stories and an advent reader of various types of books, novels, short stories or plays, novellas and screenplays. In this position, you will perform reads and screen literary material for its creativity, suitability and commerciality potential. Position requires making and/or receiving solicitations from writers and authors and providing pertinent literary information. Also, you will conduct intake sessions with writers and authors utilizing a multi-page questionnaire by phone.

You will also use a scoring system to rate the overall creative quality of the received material. You will provide notes to the author regarding where and how improvements should be made in the areas of: story development and structure and character development etc. You will also perform adaptations and meet project deadlines in a timely manner. You will also be expected to correspond with various BCF staff members for project collaboration and completion.

Work Site: Work from home.

Compensation: Fee-based per project basis under contract and must sign a confidentially agreement.

Hours: Flexible with a weekly minimum total of 8-10 hours.

MARKETING ASSOCIATE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Marketing Associate of Social Media, shall be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining our online presence, managing and spearheading our online social media mass marketing campaigns related to our productions. Candidate should own a PC or MAC; have experience in Windows; MS Word; EXCEL; PowerPoint; and EMAIL. Candidate must also be familiar with online Crowdfunding websites i.e. Kickstarter; Indiegogo and Seed & Spark etc. Must be a team player. Ideal candidate should have a background in Mass Communications or Business Administration/marketing or Computer Science with proven knowledge, skills and experience in social media digital platforms and computer science applications.

Responsibilities and Duties

Candidate must also maintain marketing campaign database. Candidate must also maintain our presence on Facebook; INSTAGRAM; TWITTER; BRIGHT IDEAS; Tumblr and Linkedin.

​

Candidate will also be responsible for the recruitment and formation of marketing teams for the development and implementation of creating social media marketing campaign themes; publicity; promotions; public relations; advertising and distribution of information online. Candidate must also be familiar with nationwide HBCU’s.

Other duties and responsibilities will consist of the development and dissemination of press releases and flyers online.

Candidate must have a working knowledge of product mass merchandising and movies as relates to the cross promotion of consumer merchandising product tie in.

 

Marketing Associate of Social Media, will work closely with various BCF support staff members and therefore, must maintain communication with BCF support staff members as required. Individual shall also promote the vision, mission, goal and objectives of the company.

Digital Film Video Editor

Digital Film Video Editor will participate as an active team member performing post-production editing assignments resulting from production projects of the production company. Editor will work directly with the film director in the viewing and selection of opening scenes and/or opening sequence footage and including all footage previously captured for editing purposes. Editor must have a strong creative eye and ear for visual and aural storytelling, visual effects, sfx and sound effects. Editor must be familiar with screenplays. Editor must be capable of meeting set project deadlines on time. ​Part Time during school year and Part Time/Full Time during summer.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Video production, including creative conception, pre-production, post production, sound, and motion graphics support for dramatic, feature, documentary film. Green Screen, etc.

  • Assist with recruiting and training a team of energetic volunteers to assist with project.

  • Present ideas and timelines in brainstorming meetings.

 

Job Requirements: (We prefer some experience or a strong interest in-)

  • Narrative storytelling for short film, feature films and subject matter for documentary films.

  • Experience with MAC EDITING SUITE

  • Experience in audio recording/mixing and color correction and DCP

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite CC, Final Cut Pro X, and Avid Media Composer.

  • Advanced level proficiency in Premiere and Final Cut Pro X.

  • Familiarity with tapeless workflows, a variety of codecs, and metadata.

  • Task prioritization, issue assessment and problem solving.

  • Ability to change focus from one task to another when necessary.

 

Required:

  • Must be 18 or older and can work independently or as a team-player.

  • Must be able to use own laptop with internet capabilities.

  • Must own a MAC computer, or have direct access to one.

  • Must have a strong awareness of visual storytelling, and pay strong attention to detail.

  • Must be motivated, safe, and responsible, organizes and mature.

  • Should have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to meet strict guidelines, as well as maintain knowledge of MS Office.
